Biography

Kate graduated with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen's University. Prior to that she completed both an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Health Sciences from York University. She has completed McMaster University's Contemporary Medical Acupuncture certification and is currently working towards her Advanced Sports Neurofunctional Practitioner Certification through McMaster University's Contemporary Medical Acupuncture Program. Kate is an active member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) and has completed Manual Therapy Level 1 through the Orthopaedic Division of the CPA.

Kate is passionate about movement. She has a strong focus on patient-centred care, with a goal of ascertaining each individual's unique biopsychosocial needs and personal goals. She utilizes a neurofunctional assessment approach, manual therapy skills, contemporary medical acupuncture, functional exercise prescription, and patient education to assist clients. Kate has a special interest in hip conditions in the young adult population and has taken a course on current advances in treatment and rehabilitation practices. She also has an interest in, and experience treating vestibular conditions such as BPPV (vertigo), vestibular hypofunction, and balance impairments.

Kate also provides cardiorespiratory physiotherapy assessment and treatment to assist with the management and rehabilitation of post-COVID symptoms including: shortness of breath, respiratory dysfunction, fatigue, weakness and deconditioning, myofascial rib, chest, upper back and neck pain, joint pain, coordination and balance, and return to activity and achieving pre/post COVID exercise goals.

Having over 20 years of dance training, Kate has a special interest in dancers and performing artists. In her free time she enjoys staying active, participating in continuing education and advocacy for the continued development of the profession, watching live dance and theatre, and reading.
