Dr. Frank Tran has been offering expert Orthopaedic consultations at Athlete's Care King & Yonge, Toronto location for over ten years. He has now expanded his downtown Toronto consultations to Athlete's Care Adelaide & York, located only a few blocks away.
Dr. Frank Tran completed a Subspecialty Fellowship in Arthroscopic Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Ottawa and Carleton Sports Medicine Clinic in 2003. He mentored under the tutelage of former AANA president Dr. Don Johnson, one of the leaders in Arthroscopic surgery. He received his Orthopedic Surgery training at the University of Ottawa and earned his Medical Degree at McGill University. During his fellowship, Dr. Tran completed numerous research projects based on ACL reconstruction. He studied the effects of electrothermal shrinkage in the treatment of partial ACL injuries. He also compared different forms of fixation in ACL reconstruction using Hamstring grafts. His research earned him numerous awards including a Gold medal at a prestigious national meeting of Sports Medicine Fellows and Residents. He has been a staff Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Scarborough Hospital since 2003
Dr. Tran has a special interest in Arthroscopic Surgery. He has performed thousands of complex Arthroscopic Knee and Shoulder surgeries. He also has an interest in different types of Orthopedic Trauma care, including fracture fixation and tendon repairs. He has worked previously as a Team consultant for the Toronto Argonauts Football Club, Toronto Lynx Soccer Club, and has consulted for the National/Ontario Soccer Assocation. He is an associate member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, as well as the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS).
