Malikah completed her Masters in Physical Therapy at Western University and received her Bachelors in Kinesiology from York University, giving her an extensive knowledge of the human body and human movement. Throughout her placements in Physical Therapy school, Malikah treated diverse populations including those with chronic mental health conditions, athletic injuries, traumatic musculoskeletal and cardiovascular injuries, strokes, and spinal cord injuries.
Growing up playing sports competitively and recreationally, Malikah found a passion for being active and exercising. She has always had an interest in the human body and following a sports injury at a young age, Malikah attended Physiotherapy at Athlete's Care and her love for the profession began.
Malikah strives to provide holistic care through addressing not only the physical aspects of pain but understanding the sociological, psychological, spiritual and emotional contributions as well. Through this approach, she is able to provide compassionate and empathetic care that takes into account the unique differences across individuals. She also strives to create a safe space for her clients to ensure they can speak freely and be their authentic selves.
Malikah employs a combination of patient education, soft tissue mobilization, manual therapy and exercise prescription in her care. She plans on continuing to strive for excellence in this profession by staying up to date on current research and through continuing education courses.
In her spare time, Malikah loves trying out new recipes, going to the gym, reading, playing basketball, and spending time with her loved ones.
